Its Diwali !!!!!!!!

Lights, Flash, Bang, Boom, Happiness all around. It is time to be with family and enjoy the purest of happiness. Diwali represents culmination of a long drawn saga of bloodshed and tears with the homecoming of the prodigal son. I feel like diwali is meant for people like us, people who get a chance to go home once or twice every year. It is homecoming for me, time to come to grips with the concept called family. Time when I don't need to be thinking about how others perceive me, as the people I spend time with are the most self less in the world. Although family is god given and we choose our friends, Family is one word which brings utter elation to my heart and soul. Diwali or Deepavali provides me the chance for happiness. Those shoppings for diwali crackers, where we choose to go for the loudest and grandest of the firecrackers to enjoy, home made sweets which bring mouthwatering memories even as I type, going to others home to distribute sweets and happiness, meeting new people ...

Trance-Formation!!!

Its true!! I am in a trance... Kahaan wo aiyyaashi ke din jab maine bina soche samjhe laptop le liya tha n aaj ka din, when to buy a pen I've to think twice about money and monthly expenses. Coming from a well paying job(atleast from my perspective :) ), financial independence is something which I am used to. It is a big paradigm shift from being able to spend when I wanted , where I wanted, to keep my ulterior wants under control. To watch a movie in a Fun cinema instead of PVR, to eat in hostel after watching the movie rather than "chilling out" at a Mac'D or someplace else equally unproductive :P:P. "Its all in the mind", people would say. If you want to spend you will. I know i should not spend and my brain agrees with the logical reasoning and counter I give to support my financial frugality but what about my curbed heart which craves for some impulsive buying, some therapy from hectic schedules where I can let loose my purse strings to do what I want. ...

Ahmedabad Madness !!

This might be harsh and Modi might get me killed for even thinking in such a way, but my experience of this city has been one of madness. There is nothing wrong with the city per se (because i have yet to see anything other than the railway station and few glimpses of heavy roads and blaring horns from an inside of an autorickshaw). I am blabbering, i must first tell how I came to be in this situation. This time a few good old men decided that they scrap the age old practices and try something "new" with poor students. The result was "C.A.T" and I turned up, after a LOT of interviews, at Insitute of Management, NIRMA university, Ahmedabad. Technically, its on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar highway, almost equidistant from two cities that are pretty much the socio - economic representative of Modi's Gujarat. My college (wow it feels good to be a student after 3 years :) ) is a picturesque beauty, an oasis amongst wilderness and other adjectives which you can think of. The...

Traveller's Checks - Kerala

Image
Wow! I am just returning from a trip to kerala, thanks to one of my colleagues who decided to get married (poor guy :P). Let me tell you this, kerala tourism industry has decided on selling itself with the caption "God's Own Country", if god has seen that and seen kerala, he should be patting himself on hisback for the job well done. The landscape there is amazing, it might be a lan of coconut trees, but phew, are those b-e-a-utiful or what. The rubber trees slanted at 60 degrees and all hundreds and thousands of them slanted, form such a panaromic view that everything really takes your breath away. Although it was hot (damn was it hot or what!), and you could go miles and miles but find the same view, it is indeed refreshing to see symmetry in an asymmetrical world. The 6-hr journey, about 200 kms only but who drives nonstop :P, was tiresome giving us sore backs and was an pain in the *** (you know the verbatim , dont you :) ). I will put more as soon as I get a chance t...
